Global Entrepreneurship Week
By far and wide, Global Entrepreneurship Week is one of the most important celebrations of entrepreneurship on the planet! In our region, a series of interesting and educational activities are offered to entrepreneurs and business professionals each year!
Some 120 entrepreneurs and regional socio-economic players participated in activities surrounding the 2015 edition of Global Entrepreneurship Week.
Held at the Place des citoyens in Sainte-Adèle last November 17 and 18, activities included a seminar on how to create an online store, an expert trade show, and a CEFRIO conference followed by a roundtable discussion on e-commerce. This event was made possible through the cooperation of the MRC Pays-d’en-Haut, the SADC des Laurentides and Emploi-Québec.
“The idea behind these activities was to provide entrepreneurs in our region with the opportunity to learn more about the issues that affect them and to expand their network by building important business connections,” highlighted Stéphane Lalande, Economic Development Director at the MRC Pays-d’en-Haut.
“Mission accomplished!” exclaimed Sylvie Bolduc, General Manager of the SADC des Laurentides, before adding “The experts and guest speakers involved greatly helped our participants to get a better understanding of their reality and e-commerce issues related to making the leap to digital with their business.”
And what about young entrepreneurs?
Thanks to the collaboration of the CJE des Pays-d’en-Haut, some twenty students from the pre-DEP program in Entrepreneurship at the Polyvalente Augustin-Norbert-Morin attended the CEFRIO conference which discussed e-commerce as growth driver for Quebec SMEs.
Johanna Fontaine, a Youth Entrepreneurship Awareness Counsellor at the CJE, found the students to be extremely attentive and interested during the presentation. “It is very important that young entrepreneurs understand the new ways of doing business. E-commerce affects them and they are extremely aware of the challenges to come,” she shared.
